Brenda S. (Pomraning) Smeltzer

Brenda S. (Pomraning) Smeltzer, of Red Lion, passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, with her son by her side, at Wellspan York Hopital, on Friday May 7th, 2021 at 4:37pm at the age of 77. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Smeltzer, who entered into rest on June 22, 2000. Brenda was born in York on April 19, 1944 and was the daughter of the late William Pomraning and Sylvia E. (Flaharty) Brady. She was a seamstress for Tighe Industries for 20 years until her retirement in 2002 and enjoyed going for rides in the car and going out to eat. In earlier years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping. But most of all Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brogue for 50 years. She leaves behind her son, Jay D. Smeltzer, and his wife, Beth, of Brogue, her four grandchildren, Lauren B. Hughes and Nathan of York New Salem, Jonathan J. Smeltzer of Fawn Grove, Lynette S. Myers and Tyler of Brogue and Nathan J. Smeltzer of Brogue, as well as her two great grandchildren, Brynlea R. Champlin and Addison J. Smeltzer. She also leaves behind her sister, Sandra Eckert of Felton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Randi L. Smeltzer, who entered into rest on August 23, 2016, and her two brothers, Glen Flaharty and Ray Brady. A viewing will take place on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10 AM at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A service of Honor and Praise for Brenda will begin at 11 AM with her Pastor, Chris P. Starr, officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Rose Cemetery immediately following the service. Those attending the service are asked to follow the CDC guidelines for Covid-19, by wearing a mask and social distancing. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brenda’s memory may be offered to, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 48 Muddy Creek Forks Road, Brogue, Pa 17309. The following men will honor Brenda by serving as pallbearers at her service: Jay D. Smeltzer, Jonathan Smeltzer, Nathan Smeltzer, Nathan Hughes, Tyler Myers and Jeff Wagner.
