Denise L. Zellers

September 28, 1963 - August 3, 2018

Denise “Dee” L. (McCleary) Zellers of Red Lion, was carried by angels home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 3, 2018, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family at 8:02 am at York Hospital at the age of 54. She was the wife of Kent R. Zellers of Red Lion to whom she married on October 1, 1983, celebrating 34 years together. She was born in York on September 28, 1963 and was the daughter of Paul E. McCleary of Hellam and the late Beverly A. (Smith) McCleary. Dee graduated from York County Vocational Technical School, Class of 1981 and then continued her education with nursing, becoming a licensed practical nurse. She worked for 20 years with the Red Lion Area School District at the North Hopewell Winterstown Elementary School as the school nurse. Dee was a charter member of the Valley View Alliance Church since 1985 where she was very active as a youth leader and teaching Sunday school. Besides her husband Kent, she leaves behind three children, Aimee D. Zellers and her husband Todd J. PFannestiel of Utica, NY, Derek K. Zellers and Brent R. Zellers both of Red Lion. She leaves her brother, Patrick McCleary of Hellam and sister, Michelle Herbert of York. Dee also has Aunts, Uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. There will be no viewing. Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Family and friends are invited to extend their condolences on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Valley View Alliance Church, 200 Alliance Avenue, York, PA 17406. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Dee’s life will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with her pastor, Rev. Lee Nanfelt officiating. Burial will be private, at the convenience to the family at a later date. Dee was a wonderful, loving wife to Kent and mother to her children. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them at the beach and camping. Children were her passion. She volunteered at Summit Grove for many years as the camp nurse and enjoyed being active in the leadership with children at her church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: Valley View Alliance Church, 200 Alliance Avenue, York, PA 17406 or to, Susan G. Koman for the Cure, ATTN: Donor Services, PO Box 65039, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be moved and the mountains be toppled into the depths of the sea; though its waters rage and foam, and though the mountains tremble at its tumult. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Forever in our hearts and memories.
