Gary Lee Kurtz

Gary Lee Kurtz, of Airville, passed from his earthly life to eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Wellspan York Hospital at 5 pm at the age of 87. He was the husband of the late Linda S.(Stewart) Kurtz, to whom he was married for 42 years, prior to her passing on March 7, 2003. Gary was born in York County on March 15, 1934, and was the son of the late Oram and Lila Kurtz. After high school, he attended Penn State, earning a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1959. He was employed at the US Army Human Engineering Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland for many years, retiring on March 1, 1995. He was a member of Chanceford Presbyterian Church in Arville, the York County Bottle Club, the Lancaster Philatelic Club, and he was a local Postal Historian. He and Linda had no children, but he is survived by his cousins including Patti Conway and several good friends, especially, Jerry Blevins of Freeland, MD and Earl and Barbara Dettinger of Airville. Viewing for Gary will be held on Monday, June 21st, from 10-11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Gary will be at 11 am at the funeral home with his pastor, Rev. Beth Appel officiating. Burial will take place at Chanceford Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
