Gerald L. Strickler

June 21, 1923 - September 1, 2011

RED LION Gerald L. "Bud" Strickler, 88, entered into rest at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Harget) Strickler, whom he married January 31, 1948. Born in York, on June 21, 1923, he was the son of the late Chauncy and Beulah (Sowers) Strickler. Mr. Strickler was a truck driver for many years, retiring from RE Oerman Towing. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Europe during WWII. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Knopp of York (Vincent G., Jr.) and Cathleen S. McKinney of Abbottstown (Charles W., Jr.); five grandchildren, Tammy Knopp, Richard McKinney, Audrey Snyder, Kelly Biser, and Jennifer Ulsh; four great-grandchildren; and one niece, Debra Bair of New Hampshire. There will be a viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, followed by a 10 a.m. service at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The Rev. Ronald L. Knopp will officiate. Burial wil be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
