Harold Milton Myers

October 8, 1914 - February 7, 2015

Harold Milton Myers passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at York Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of M. Almeda Myers. Born on October 8, 1914, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Milton P. and Anna (Rummler) Myers. Harold was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from William Penn High School in Harrisburg. He obtained a B.S. degree in Education from Shippensburg State College and a M.S. in Education from Pennsylvania State University. He had a 33-year career as a teacher in the Red Lion Area School District. Harold was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Red Lion. He was lifetime member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, lifetime member of the National Education Association, and member of the Red Lion American Legion. In addition to his wife, Almeda, Harold is survived by a daughter, Janice of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Aument. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Harold will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Timothy A. Funk of St. Paul's UM Church officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Red Lion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Harold may be offered to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 250, Red Lion, PA 17356; or to the charity of your choice . During retirement, Harold spent time reading, gardening, traveling and woodworking. For his 100th birthday, State Representative Stanley E. Saylor presented him with a citation from the House of Representatives.
