Jean C. (Wallace) Hawkins
November 25, 1941 - January 15, 2022
Jean Carol (Wallace) Hawkins, 80, of Red Lion, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 15, 2022 at 4:31pm at her residence after battling Alzheimer’s for many years. She was the wife of Gary L. Hawkins. Jean was born in Craley on November 25, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Grant and Minnie (Zarfos) Wallace. Jean had various jobs throughout her lifetime in various businesses, including a house cleaning business with her niece Lynn Earhart. Jean was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and attended Living Word Community Church with her family. She brought all of her children to Christ and shared her faith with everyone. Jean loved the simple things in life, growing up in a family of 10 in her small town of Craley, she often enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Christmas (Christ’s birthday) was her favorite time of year, having her house adorned with her favorite Lefton dishware and “pixies”, her house illuminated in lights with a manger scene by her front door and her tree decorated with ornaments made by her family. She loved shopping at yard sales, antique stores and flea markets and spending Sunday dinners with her family. She was an amazing cook and an avid writer. She loved her country home and the peace that it gave her. Having a cup of tea or coffee in the morning, while reading her Bible and enjoying the nature that God provided gave her peace and serenity. However, she also loved a house full with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, loud and bursting with conversation, laughter and excitement. Jean was never without her family and that’s when she was happiest. She was her family’s “go to” person, who always had a listening ear and gave loving advice. She loved to laugh and she loved music of all kinds. She instilled faith, integrity, loyalty, joy, peace and happiness in her family. She was a kind, generous, caring, selfless, gentle, loving, God-filled woman, who touched the lives and hearts of everyone she met and invited into her life, her home and her family. She will be missed by so many, whose lives she impacted and was a special loving part of. Besides her husband, Jean leaves her four children, Angela Wallace of Reading, C. Lee Morris, Jr. of Red Lion, David Morris and wife Heather of York and Ryan Hawkins and wife Connie of Felton and by her six grandchildren, Brooks Morris, Derrik Morris, Dillon Morris, Emma Morris, Mason Hawkins, Paige Hawkins and her great-grandchild, Rylan Morris. Jean was preceded in death her nine brothers and sisters, James (Jim) Wallace, Jess Wallace, Larry Wallace, Don Wallace, Joseph (Joe) Wallace, Patricia (Pat) Rittenhouse, Nancy Nishwitz, Sonia Sprenkle and Judy Barshinger. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews, family members and friends. A visitation for Jean will take place on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 5-7pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise will begin at 7pm at the funeral home with Pastor Garrett Lowe of Living Word Community Church officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Craley Cemetery.
