Luella R. (Markley) Heindel

Luella R. (Markley) Heindel entered into eternal rest after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 2:42 p.m. at Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Heindel, who entered into rest on May 30, 2005. Luella was born in York on October 24, 1925, and was the daughter of the late William H. and Amanda (Shaffer) Markley. Luella worked at the former Mary McIntosh Laundry in York, retiring after many years of service. She was a longtime member of Freysville Zion United Methodist Church. Surviving are daughter, Susan E. Bunnel (Gaylord) of Wrightsville; a stepson, Leroy Heindel of Red Lion; two grandchildren, Sherry Kashner of York and Chris Kashner and his wife Amanda of Felton; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Krista and Brooke; and a son-in-law, Dale R. Kashner of Seven Valleys. She was preceded in death by a sister. A viewing will be held Monday, July 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The Service of Honor and Praise for Luella will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Her pastor, Pastor Herbert W. Hartman of Freysville Zion United Methodist Church and the Rev. Sue Oelrich, Chaplain of Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Freysville Zion UM Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Typical Life Corporation, (TLC), 707 Loucks Road, York, PA 17404. Luella is fondly remembered as a very special lady who loved to tell stories of the past. She welcomed everyone with open arms. Her family and extended family were very important to her and always came first in her life.
