Mary R. (Cox) Taylor, of Red Lion, closed her eyes and entered the heavenly gates to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 7:56 pm at her residence, with family by her side, at the age of 83. She was the wife of Melvin E. Taylor, Sr., of Red Lion, to whom she married on September 16, 1995, celebrating 26 years together. She was born in New Castle, PA on August 12, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Miller) Cox. Mary worked for the Security Department at York Hospital for many years prior to her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed crocheting, bird watching, animals and spending time with her family. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Airville. Mary leaves her husband Melvin, and three daughters, Mary Lorraine Hiler of Wellsville, Kathleen A. Herman and her husband Joey of York, Kathryn A. Wilhide of York and three sons, Melvin E. Taylor, Jr. of York, Loren C. Taylor and his wife Nan of York and Timothy J. Taylor and his wife Desirea of Glen Rock. She was the grandmother of five grandchildren and a great granddaughter. She also has several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Markline in 2015. Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on Friday, March 25th, from 10-11 am during the visitation. A Service of Honor and Praise for Mary will begin at 11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Her pastor, Rev. Rodney T. Stamper will officiate.
