Stephen "Steve" B. Tome

October 12, 1952 - May 11, 2021

Stephen “Steve” B. Tome, of York, left his earthly life to begin his eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 10:47 pm at Wellspan York Hospital at the age of 68. He was the loving husband of Jeanette I. (Anstine) Tome of York. Steve was born in West York on October 12, 1952 and was the son of Dorothy (Weston) Stiffler and the late Burnell Tome. He graduated from Dallastown Senior High School, class of 1970. He was an electronics technician at Staff Music and Amusements in Hanover for 20 years. Steve was a member of the NRA, he loved his country, enjoyed bowling and played on several leagues’ years ago. He and Jeanette enjoyed camping, traveling, hiking, and volunteering at the East Coast Exotic Animal Rescue. But most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a longtime and active member of the Advent Lutheran Church in York, where he was a former council member, sang in the choir, was an usher and chairperson of Friendly Acres. He is survived by his wife and is the father of Eric S. Tome and wife Lacie of Milford, DE and Tabitha J. Barshinger and husband Bryan of Shingle House, PA. Steve is the devoted grandfather to Jason, Destiny, Karinne and Beau. Steve was one of four children, leaving his three sisters, Lisa Keller of York, Stephanie Stambaugh of Etters and LeighAnn Stiffler of Red Lion, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the service. A Service of Honor and Praise will begin at 10 am on Tuesday, May 18th at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Constance L. Mentzer, officiating. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to greet the family may join them at the Friendly Acres Fellowship park after the interment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 E. Market Street, York, PA 17402 or to the East Coast Exotic Animal Rescue, 320 Zoo Road, Fairfield, PA 17320. Please follow the new CDC guidelines when attending the service.
